My computer decided to crash and eat my enormous post. There goes 45 minutes I'm never getting back. Sigh.

So instead of the glowing prose I'd intended, I'll do a little dance!
... or just sum up.

So the important stuff:

  • Went to Sutekh trivia night. Had fun. Knew stuff. Won fabulous prizes:

    • 4 glow in the dark zombies
    • 3 zombie dogs
    • 2 Billion dollars
    • and 1 ticket worth of cinema cash

  • Weekend was filled with Elizabethan era Age of Aquarius freeform action.
Costumes= Fabulous. Many thanks to the vaunted arts of Heidi ([livejournal.com profile] fayr) and Rhiannon ([livejournal.com profile] regency_rhi), without whom a great many of the cast would have been very chilly indeed. :)
Though they could well have warmed themselves with the spicy flows of Galen's ([livejournal.com profile] berym) mulled wine, which was excellent.
The sets (and yes, dear reader, there were sets) turned out well. I was especially fond of the hedge maze. I think they should keep it. ^The household surely don't need a washing line near so much as they need a hedge maze with a centre pavillion.^

Got to play a young William Shakespeare, which was neat. I didn't think that much of my performance, but others seem to disagree with my appraisal.

  • Driving Rhi home after the session on Sunday evening swiftly became her dashing in to grab some things then staying the night at my place. Yay, surprise Rhi!
A luxuriant morning later, I zipped her home before I made my way to work.

  • When I got to work, the slight sniffle I'd had became a cement mess in my head. Trudged through my shift without incident, but felt ghastly. Food helped my state, but then I fell asleep on the couch at Tom ([livejournal.com profile] furpants_tom and Julia's ([livejournal.com profile] juliadactyl).
Awoke at half past midnight, then blearily got myself up and out. The night air cleared my eyes such that I was in no danger of harming myself or others on the drive back, but when I did get home, I brushed my teeth and pitched straight into bed.
Then I slumbered for 11 more hours.

  • Tuesday afternoon, I saw Kung Fu Hustle with mum ([livejournal.com profile] gytha_ogg) and Jenn ([livejournal.com profile] astridthemighty). It sure does have arse-kicking and dancing, though not as much dancing as I'd been led to hope from the first ten minutes. Ah well.

  • Cheered a bit by company (and food), I went to Flodge.
I’d intended to take my small dose of beautiful medicine and be on my way to 7th Sea, but decided - with mum and Rhi's support - that I should give it a miss, instead going back to Rhi’s, into the arms of my “ministering angel”.

So I dropped by Norton’s long enough to return the Norton anthology of poetry to Bez ([livejournal.com profile] bezique), as he’d left it behind after The Lord of Misrule. Then drove Rhi back to her’s.

1 lovely cup of tea and many curative hugs later, I went on my way so that Rhi could get to bed, so she could be up for her tutes in the morning. In theory, I intended to also have an early night. I couldn't get to sleep until 1. :(

  • Wednesday is a bit of a blur. The only part I remember clearly is correspondence with my sweetheart.
I can't claim that I regret that being what I recall, if I am to recall only one thing in a day. :)
    Four months! Woo!
    My enthusiasm remains boundless!

  • I think I did some washing. I must have done, because I've since brought it in. Deduction!

  • Yesterday, there was no Home Library run, which is just as well, since I was still feeling wretched.
I managed to avoid being totally idle, however.
I did more washing (bedclothes and towels, mostly).
I helped mum sort out the garden bed edging, which someone had flattened. People have been using mum's yard as a thoroughfare for years, as it's a corner block. Now that we've put gates on the front and I've fitted locks, I would think that should have ceased (excepting traffic that has yet to learn and which will get a rude shock, finding a locked gate at their traditional egress), so whomever is passing through now must be visitting to use our outdoor bathroom.
    I find that bothersome.

Pulled out weeds. In particular, cleared much of the duckweed that accrues in the pond. The pond has been in an ill state since mum payed someone inordinate amounts of money to do the garden and they damaged quite a number of things: Disconnected the pond filter, smashed the garden lights, killed some plants; generally not good.
I think I may now have something of a handle on how to reconnect the poor pump, so all that remains is to clear the water and repair the bridge.

In aid of clearing the water, I tended mum's outdoor tap. It's been leaking for quite some time and I found out that it had been "fixed" by stuffing it with plastic, to stop the flow. Not impressed.
So, taking some multigrips and some teflon tape, I replaced the whole assembly.
I'm pretty pleased with myself. *feels all handy*

  • Night fell and I with it, into a mucose stupor.

  • Today:
I'm feeling many a furlong better.
So far all I've done is risen, read a bit more of Blood music, written a verbose entry, had the computer crash and thrashed this little piece together.

    But later:
    • Shopping!
    • Cleaning!
    • Work!
    • An evening with my amazing lady!

Tell me what you think of Blood Music once it's finished. It seems to arouse a large variety of reactions in people.
